How the Sale will Work
The heifers and bulls will be sold by silent auction. All animals will have a minimum reserve bid amount based on a small premium over current beef price. Upon arrival buyers will register and be issued a buyer number. The animals will be penned in the large feeder barn by groups (colours) and identified by singles and pairs. The barn design allows for clear appraisal of the animals from a wide 9' center feed alley. Each pen will have a list of the heifers/bulls available for sale and space for a bid amount and bidder number; the sheets will allow for multiple bids. Bids will be accepted in minimum $50 increments. Bidding will occur over a defined time period, when the time is expired bidding will close and bid sheets will be collected. Highest bids over the reserve buy the animals. Payment and loading facilities will be available on site.
Animal Information
All heifers will have identification and post weaning performance data available, including gain and index. All heifers will be confirmed open and OK for breeding by Dr. Ian Porter of Fundy Veterinarians.
All heifers have been double vaccinated with Bovishield Gold FP5 and UltraBac 7 with Somnugen. All heifers will be vaccinated with CattleMaster4 + VL5 3 weeks prior to sale.
All heifers have been chosen by Joe for build, breed cross, growth and temperament.
The heifers are housed in a south facing open straw pack barn, and are being fed a forage/barley diet for moderate gains. No more than 4lbs of barley per head per day are being fed.
